TRAVEL FOR ALL
As incentive programs continue to target non-sales employees,
it was inevitable that group travel became part of the mix
By Leo Jakobson
Incentive travel programs have been a popular and successful method of pushing salespeople to excel ever since the growth
of airlines made them feasible. But as the
growing recognition of the bottom-line value
of employee engagement spread throughout
corporate America over the past decade,
incentive programs have been trickling down
from the sales force to the wider general
employee base.
So it was inevitable that corporations began
including incentive travel awards for non-
sales employees as part of their incentive tool
kits. For a number of companies, this goes
beyond offering individual travel awards in
points-based programs—often hotel gift cards
and airline certificates. These firms actively
seek out top-performing non-sales employees
for traditional group travel programs, either
bringing them along with top salespeople or
even arranging separate trips for them.
